Mini Chalkboards

My sister's 40th birthday is coming up and I am throwing her a party next Saturday. It will be held outdoors in my backyard and I am doing a "Build Your Own Burger Bar" for the menu. I really love the idea of fancy paper tags to identify dishes of food as I have seen on other blogs. But I was thinking about something reusable. On another blog I frequent, I saw someone use mini-chalkboards as food identifiers. I thought I would try it out.

I went to Michael's and purchased a package of mini wooden plaques for $5.00. I think there were at least 15 in the package, but I am not using them all. I thought it was nice that they came in a few different shapes instead of just square or just round.

I then spray primed them...

and painted them with two coats of chalkboard paint. I allowed four hours between coats.

I bought some little metal plate stands at Walmart for $1.00 each. Here is the finished product:

I wish my handwriting was a little better. It also helps to use a pencil sharpener to sharpen the chalk so you get nice, clean script. Fun, huh? And reusable! I have at least two more parties I can use these for: my daughter's 2nd birthday party in August and my husband's 40th birthday party in November.

educative and engaging, and let me tell you, you've hit the nail on the head. The problem is an issue that not enough men and women are speaking intelligently about. Now i'm very happy
that I found this in my hunt for something regarding this.
