Gourd Birdhouse Project

Olivia and I bought two beautiful gourds at a barn sale over the weekend for 1 dollar each. They were already nicely dried out and project-ready.

First, I lightly sanded them with fine grit sand paper to remove loose surface material and dirt. Then I wiped them with a soft, damp cloth and put them in the sun to dry.

Next, I drilled holes for the birdies to enter. I stuffed paper towels in the holes so that the spraypaint would not get inside.

I painted them with Krylon Indoor/Outdoor spray paint in Almond. I put on two coats and let them dry a day between coats.

Now they are ready to hang, but I want to make them a little more pretty first, so I am brainstorming on how I want them to look.
